Bradley walked into the menâs locker room.
It was small, with a single row of lockers and benches on one wall and a few shower stalls on the other. He grabbed a towel from one of the racks and put his belongings, including the keys Jessica handed him, in a locker. He took off his sweatpants and tank top and turned to look in the mirror. He worked tirelessly on his chest and abdomen and was looking toned and chiseled. He pinched at his waist and noticed a little more give than usual. It would be salads and protein for a week.
He wrapped the towel around his waist and made his way toward the shower with his phone in his hand. He turned on the water and held a hand in the stream, waiting for it to warm.
After a few seconds, he hung his towel on the hanger beside the shower curtain and propped his phone on the little chair. Janet Jackson had put him in the mood for more â80s music. Something sensual. He pushed play. The power chords and heavy percussion of âShoutâ by Tears for Fears played through the locker room.
The water was perfect, both cooling and relaxing. He contemplated a moment of self-pleasure but resisted. Better save it for any possible fun later. He washed his hair, face, and body, singing along with the song.
A loud thud sounded, then the locker room went dark. Completely dark. He pulled his right hand up but couldnât see it.
âHello? Jessica? Madison? Is that you?â
No response.
âThis isnât funny. I know itâs you. Iâm completely naked in here and canât see so would really appreciate it if you could turn the lights back on!â
Still no response.
He reached outside the shower and flailed a little to find his towel. After drying off and wrapping the towel around his waist, he whipped back the shower curtain, certain Jessica would be standing there, waiting for him to blindly walk into her. He put a hand out and felt left and right, but no one was there.
Then a soft light shone from the right where the locker room door had swayed open and closed, again. Must have been the ocean breeze. Heâd forgotten to close the studio windows. He felt his way to the light switch, turned on the overheads, then switched off the music. It was definitely them. Jessica more than Madison. Jessica had an evil streak.
Hate you both! He group-texted.
He opened the door and peered into the dark studio. The towel slipped a little and he cinched it up, pulled it tighter around his waist. âMadison and Jessica, come out now, or I can guarantee that I will steal whatever men you are flirting with tonight!â
Silence.
He reached for the light switch on the studio wall but it wouldnât turn on. Frustrated, he started to turn back into the locker room when the moonlight cast onto the mirrors. Large red handwriting.
TONIGHTâS YOUR NIGHT TO DIE PRETTY BOY!
Jessica could be cutting but not even she would write that.
